Ideas for eating after dental implant placement

Some people may want to treat implant surgery as an excuse for eating lots of ice cream, but if you want a healthier option, here are some delicious soft food ideas to make your postop recovery diet good for you, easy to prepare and fun to eat.

Vegetable pureed soups

Soup is the ultimate soft food because it’s easy to consume and loaded with vitamins and flavor. Be sure to drink soup that is lukewarm as hot soups can irritate the surgical site.

Applesauce

Sweet and refreshing, applesauce is a great choice when you feel like something cool but also filling. Apples are rich in dietary fiber and also promote digestion.

Mashed potatoes

A healthy bowl of mashed potatoes is rich in vitamin C and potassium and substantive enough to make you feel like you’ve had a proper meal. Squash and beans can both be easily mashed into a similar consistency to mashed potato. Beans are also an excellent source of protein.

Bananas

Ripe bananas are very soft and rich in potassium and fiber. Mash bananas onto a plate or bowl to make them easier to eat. Ripe peaches, melons, and berries are also soft enough to not damage a recently placed implant.

Eggs – however you like them

Omelets and scrambled eggs are tasty nutrient-packed meals that can be mixed with additional healthy items such as cheese, milk and soft vegetables. Soft cheeses like brie or camembert also make a great snack.

Cooked cereals

Cream of wheat, oatmeal or grits are very soft, especially when thoroughly cooked. Along with being healthy, cooked cereals are versatile as you can flavor them however you like. Add jam, maple syrup, or cinnamon to suit your tastes.

Avocado

Avocado is high in healthy, beneficial fat that’s not only good for you but also filling. They’re also a fantastic source of vitamins C, E, K and B-6.

Liquid meal replacements

Liquid meal replacements can be picked up at your local supermarket. Available in a wide range of flavors, it’s easy to find a brand you like. Liquid meal replacements are especially good when you’re back to work and don’t have time to prepare a soft food meal.
