Orthognathic surgery is also known as corrective jaw surgery. It is used to remedy a variety of abnormalities in which the facial bones and teeth develop incorrectly, resulting in the occurrence of either an underbite or overbite. These conditions lead to difficulty with chewing, speech, jaw function, and a compromised facial appearance.
Orthognathic surgery is normally done in conjunction with orthodontic treatment. Sometimes, braces alone can correct a problem with the bite, but when it is severe, orthognathic surgery may be needed. Our NJ oral surgeons perform orthognathic surgery in the hospital or outpatient surgical center. Patients generally stay in the hospital one to two nights, depending on the extent of surgery. Our doctors maintain hospital affiliations in NJ and NY.

The areas that usually need correction are the maxilla (upper jaw), the mandible (lower jaw), and chin. Corrective jaw surgery involves moving one, two, or all of these areas to obtain the desired results.
New advances in orthodontics have also allowed the total treatment times to be shortened. Most patients state that the post-operative discomfort is much less than they were expecting. The improvement in jaw function and facial appearance is remarkable, and in some instances, life altering. Most patients experience a great improvement in their self-confidence and quality of life after orthognathic surgery.

I saw Dr. Park for my wisdom tooth extraction. Everyone in the office was fantastic and friendly. Dr. Park explained the whole procedure step by step so I didn’t feel like I was going in blind, his assistant working with him the day of the surgery was absolutely lovely as well and I felt comfortable the whole time I was there. I cannot not recommend this practice enough.

At first, I was very scared because it was my first surgery. But I was in the hands of excellent professionals. Dr. Boulos was my doctor, he explained to me every detail of my surgery. All of the staff were professional and caring. Dr. Diaz met with me before the tooth extraction and was wonderful! Needless to say, I was a bit nervous, but he put me at ease and completely explained what he would be doing at the appointment. Dr. Han and his staff are some of the best around! I had just my procedure done yesterday, which were my bottom wisdom teeth and they did an amazing job! Currently, it is the following day and I have little to no discomfort whatsoever. Indemnification
You agree to and hereby indemnify, defend, and hold harmless PBHS, its Third Party Providers and their respective affiliates, employees, agents, contractors, assigns, licensees, and successors in interest (“Indemnified Parties”) from any and all claims, losses, liabilities, damages, fees, expenses, and costs (including attorneys’ fees, court costs, damage awards, and settlement amounts) that result from or relate to any claim or allegation against any Indemnified Party arising from you accessing or using the services provided under this Agreement (including any Third Party Services) or from any email or other communication generated or sent through such services or any content contained therein, whether or not in breach of this Agreement.
